Remember what I said about chapbooks? I might have lied. Well, not lied per se, but made a promise before unforeseen catastrophic printing failure came along and changed my plans. Basically, the entire first run is trashed. Now that I’ve had a few days to calm down, collect my breath, and kick the life out of a few trash cans, I have now formulated a back-up plan. Because, while failure is always an option, I don’t take no for an answer.
I have one full chapbook, Letters From the Ocean, featuring short stories from the universe of my in-progress queer lit. novel The Diving Bell, ready for publication. I have at least two more on the back-burner, waiting to be edited, spruced up and formatted for publishing. In order to find an accessible, inexpensive way to put these out, I’ve decided to open an account at Smashwords to begin publishing chapbooks in ebook-format. Smashwords publishes in epub, LRF, .mobi, PDB, PDF, RTF and Plain Text formats, meaning access for anyone, anywhere with any device, and returns 85% of the profits to the author. This means you’ll be able to read my chapbooks on any reader, and I’ll actually get to keep a majority of all netted profits.
So if you like me, and want to keep me with you on your mobile device of choice, watch this space. More news on the release of Letters From The Ocean coming soon. As I said before, I’m here, I’m ready, and I’m not taking no for an answer.
